Sideboard, thy name is Vanity!
You went from a humble garage sale background player...

...to Dan the Builder's super secret workshop lair...

...and then passed into the skilled and capable hands of Dan the Plumber...

...who bravely helped you, humble sideboard, make the cut.

And now you're a member of the team, a star under the bright lights of the half bath.

You charismatic multi-tasker, you. Now only you have the special power to keep hands clean,
guard tissue boxes, and store valuable secret supplies.
Props to you, Sideboard - now thy name is Vanity!

we want to do something similar for our bathroom, it's just a matter of finding the exact right size piece of furniture and then decided what else we want to do in that room.

Becky, with a careful hand (in this case, our plumber's) and a careful choice of sink, it's really not that hard to do. Good luck!

Nice job! I'm trying to do the same thing. Did you do anything to the wood to protect it from water? How is the area next to the sink holding up?

Shan, thanks for your comment - probably the last ever on this blog! I've moved to http://simmertilldone.com. As to the vanity, we haven't yet, but are going to top it with a very light polyurethane-type coating - not sticky, very clear and good for a "wet" room. So far it's holding up fine. Good luck with your project!
